Winners of Best Live Act at the 2020 Gold Coast Music Awards, Tijuana Cartel have established themselves on the Australian music scene as one of the country’s most exciting live acts, combining the sounds of the Middle East, India and Spain with a psychedelic and atmospheric approach to song writing.
Based in deep electronic roots with a concoction of multi-layered grooves, splashes of Middle Eastern vocals, lilting Moby-esque soundscapes, Flamenco and slide guitar, trumpet, live & electronic world beats and percussion, influenced heavily by break beats.
Creating an electronic beats tapestry that will cut through to your very soul, Tijuana Cartel hits the stage on Noosa Main Beach at 7.20pm.
The Brains Trust
Sunshine Coast duo The Brains Trust combines luscious soul textures and hip-hop attitude into beats that punch out of any sound system. Jonny Boinkin creates new vibrations of the body and mind, topped off by glistening vocals from talented songstress Jess Lean. Fusing deep bass, ambience and classic soul showmanship, a live performance from The Brains Trust will convince you that two heads are better than one. Catch their beach set from 6pm.
Atmospheric beds with massive hip hop beats, featuring vocalist Ayla’s saccharine melodies being the cherry on top. For an act that has only been around since 2019, Forrest Run already have accolades like: supporting triple j favourites Boo Seeka, headlining stages at both Caloundra Music Festival and Spring in the Vale Music Festivals, and releasing and touring their debut self-titled EP. Bringing you audible bliss from 5pm.
From the streets and tapas bars of Spain and bustling Japanese live music venues, to Australian festivals, bars, and restaurants, Felicity Lawless has delighted many diverse audiences with her journey through sound and emotion. Her music is characterised by a flashy, Spanish guitar style, soaring vocal melodies and hypnotic rhythms. Felicity performs with an energy that elevates and inspires while infusing her crowds with enthusiasm and joy. Opening the beach stage at 4pm.
