MY FATHER BRYCE
Adam Courtenay
Bryce Courtenay’s public persona is well known. But who was the real Bryce Courtenay?
As told by his son: “I was witness to his complexities, both good and bad, as only a child can be.”
This book is about Adam’s journey of understanding who Bryce was. Fame – and his desire for it – slowly contorted an already fantasised image of himself.
Bryce had an addiction to storytelling, a desire to rearrange reality. Some might even call it compulsive lying.
Includes the thoughts and opinions of his friends, family and colleagues – as well as selected fans. There are a million stories in the Bryce Courtenay. So many others peopled the chapters in his 53-year Australian odyssey.
Adam Courtenay is a Sydney-based writer and financial journalist. He has had a long career in the UK and Australia, writing for papers such as the Financial Times, the Sunday Times, the SMH/Age and for magazines including Forbes and Company Director.
